Loving horror movies is more than a passion, it’s a lifestyle and for some, an identity. And if you’re one of these people who can’t get enough of horror, then the YouTube channel Dead Meat is right up your alley.
Dead Meat was created by horror lovers James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca in 2017. It’s a YouTube channel dedicated to the horror genre and is separated into two main categories: Janisse’s “The Kill Count” series and Rebecca’s “Dead Meat Podcast.” Janisse hosts a weekly segment known as “The Kill Count,” where he breaks down the kills from various popular horror movies. He began this series with 1980’s “Friday the 13th” and has covered films across horrors many subgenres, from slashers to torture porn to paranormal to science fiction. His most popular video to date is his break down of 2004’s “Saw,” which has over 16 million views. Over the years, Janisse has covered a number of series, including the “Saw,” “Final Destination,” “Child’s Play,” and “Friday the 13th” franchises, as well as plenty of one off. His “The Kill Count” series is a great way to enjoy horror, whether it’s discovering a new, great movie or reliving your favorite franchise.
Rebecca hosts the “Dead Meat Podcast,” alongside Janisse, where they discuss themes, influential films, phobias and phenomenons within horror. In the podcast, they go in depth into each topic, flexing their knowledge and passion for the horror genre. Their podcast is broadcast on their YouTube channel and available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and other major platforms. In addition to providing these two series, the duo has also created another segment “What’s Your Favorite Scary Movie?,” where they interview celebrities about their favorite horror movies. So far, they’ve primarily interviewed WWE wrestlers (another big passion of the couple) but have also interviewed YouTube personalities Rhett McLaughlin and Anna Brisbin.
